Laredo Distribution employees participated in a career day at Sanchez Ochoa Elementary School. Students were especially intrigued by the safety gloves used by service mechanics.

Some AEP Texas employees recently spent a Sunday afternoon in the kitchen cooking to feed the families of patients at Driscoll Children’s Hospital and other area hospitals.

AEP Texas Service Mechanic Roman Tambunga was maneuvering the bucket truck out of the Ozona neighborhood when he saw smoke coming out of a home.  His response helped ensure that the resident and his pets safely exited the home before it was engulfed in flames.  He also helped the volunteer fire department fight the blaze.

The AEP Foundation has contributed a $100,000 grant to Angelo State University to fund an endowment that will support the new Engineering Student Hub.

AEP Texas crews are making great strides in reducing the number of outages resulting from Hurricane Hanna.  We have brought in additional crews from other parts of Texas and neighboring states.  This was a Category 1 Hurricane that left approximately 200,000 customers without power.  We know any extend outage can be frustrating, especially during the current COVID-19 pandemic. We deeply appreciate your patience and support during the restoration process.  Our efforts will continue until all customers who can take electric service are restored. 

Doctors, nurses and resident doctors-in-training at Christus Spohn Shoreline Emergency Department in Corpus Christi are now wearing protective face shields produced by Charge, AEP's digital hub created to incubate and develop innovation projects. 

AEP Texas employee Carmen Morales Pharr Continuous Improvement Lead Carmen Morales is doing her part to help the fight to contain the COVID-19 virus, and her efforts are making an impact across the country.

AEP Texas in November launched a program to incorporate company-owned drones to provide another set of "eyes" in the day-to-day distribution operations.

Four-year-old Liam Chavez made no effort to contain his excitement as they entered. “Oh my gosh,” he bellowed. Then, the only sound in the room were his mother’s low sounds of joy as the family of four joined in a group hug. AEP Texas employees joined Habitat for Humanity of Laredo and others in helping the Chavez family dedicate their new home. A $50,000 grant from the AEP Foundation provided primary funding for the home, and AEP Texas employees helped frame and complete construction of it.
