AEP Texas crews stand ready and prepared to respond to any outage situation associated with Tropical Depression Two, currently situated off the northwest coast of Florida. The weather pattern is predicted to reach the Texas Gulf Coast later this week and possibly affect customers in the Corpus Christi North District.

AEP Texas is taking proactive steps to prepare for a range of potential impacts. Local personnel across the coastal region are actively monitoring conditions, reviewing response plans and preparing equipment and facilities. The company has also begun securing additional crews and resources to support restoration efforts, if needed. Current forecasts indicate tropical weather could begin affecting portions of the AEP Texas service area by Friday.

AEP Texas, a subsidiary of American Electric Power (Nasdaq: AEP), has entered into an agreement for a loan of up to $3.26 billion from the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Energy Dominance Financing (EDF) to help fund infrastructure investments to improve resiliency and deliver an estimated $685 million in total savings to customers over 30 years. 

AEP crews received a special thank you from the Mayor of Quanah for their hard work restoring power after lightning caused a city-wide outage for more than 15 hours.

Over 250 individuals representing distribution, transmission, forestry, drone operations and traffic control continue working to restore electric service to approximately 385 customers, down from a peak of 1,700 late Friday evening, in the Victoria area who were left without power after a storm with reported 120 mph winds moved through the area Friday.
