AEP Texas crews tackle hurricane damage in Florida

October 20, 2026

AEP Texas crews responded to support Florida communities after Hurricane Isaias, facing difficult restoration conditions that included downed trees, limited access and even a collision involving a bucket truck. Fortunately, no one was injured, and the truck sustained only minor damage.

While waiting for law enforcement, employees who were not involved in the collision assisted a nearby resident who was still without power. They found a disconnected service conductor at the weatherhead, reattached it and restored electricity to the home, highlighting the team’s commitment to helping customers whenever possible.

The mutual assistance effort brought together crews from Corpus Christi, the Rio Grande Valley and Laredo, who worked side by side to restore power safely and efficiently. Their teamwork and dedication helped support the recovery of more than 400,000 Florida Power & Light customers, while reinforcing the importance of serving communities in times of need.
