Employees in the Marfa service area participated in a community-wide Touch a Truck event where AEP Texas brought several digger and bucket trucks. Community members of all ages learned more about each truck and how AEP crews utilize them.
Roughly 350 people attended the event.
Steven Granado said it was nice to show the community what his job is all about.
“We don't always get a chance to show people what our job is really like, so it was nice to spend time with the community and let everyone see what we do,” he said. “Being able to share what we do and connect with the community made it a great experience. Hopefully it gave them a better idea of what we do and maybe even inspired a few of them.”
Rene Granado said he hopes this is an event kids will continue to look forward to every year.
“One kid said, ‘this is the best day ever’ and it really made me feel good about what we were doing and how it’s going to impact the kids from here on out,” he said. “Now, they’ll be looking forward to ‘Touch-a-Truck day’ every year. We're such a small community and when we have events like this for the kids it's special because it brings everyone together and everyone gets to meet the workers around the area.”
