Corpus Christi District Engineering and Customer Services departments participated in PLAY: Discovery Dojo, an indoor S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) event presented by the City of Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department at the Ethel Eyerly Senior Center in Corpus Christi.
AEP Texas hosted a table with electric circuitry models and information about electrical safety. Rene Castillo, Customer Services Account Representative Principal-Corpus Christi, said the Saturday event allowed company volunteers to teach kids about electrical safety, as well as discuss customer service tools with parents.
“The PLAY: Dojo Day is built on outreach for kids, but it ultimately allows us to connect with our customers in person,” Castillo said. “Community involvement is important. Today we demonstrated how the circuits work but also connected with their parents to promote outage alerts and more.”
PLAY: Dojo events are held periodically at different senior citizen community centers in Corpus Christi.
