Ballinger crews receive special thanks following elementary school restoration

September 8, 2026

AEP Texas employees in the San Angelo district received a special thank you from the Ballinger Elementary School principal following a streamlined restoration effort. The school was experiencing a partial power outage due to an underground electrical issue which caused the school to run on limited power.

Students would need to be released early for AEP crews to fix the issue. However, Principal Darcy Cauley said the issue was realized around 10 a.m. and having students leave so early in the day would be difficult for parents. Instead of releasing students within the hour, crews worked together to push the job back.

“They postponed it as late as they could into the afternoon and so we were able to feed all the kids, and we did not have to cancel school until two o'clock, and it gave parents several hours to figure out a plan,” Cauley said. “They completely changed their entire day just so that our school could stay open longer,” she said. “It was just very kind. I know people had to rework their day and that's no fun. So, it was awesome they were able to do that for us.”
