The AEP Texas Foundation has awarded a $10,000 grant to the Texas Surf Conservancy to support the launch of its new Science of Oysters program for Coastal Bend students.

The hands-on educational program will bring marine science into classrooms through interactive lessons focused on oysters and their role in coastal ecosystems. Students will learn about marine biology, ecology and conservation, including how oysters help clean coastal waters, reduce erosion and support healthy habitats.

AEP Texas Regional Director of External Affairs Gricelda Calzada presented the grant to help expand STEM-based environmental education in the region. The partnership is designed to give students meaningful learning opportunities while building a greater appreciation for Texas’ coastal resources.

The AEP Texas Foundation continues to support programs that strengthen communities and help prepare the next generation of environmental stewards.
