AEP Texas helped facilitate the donation of a high-tech drone to Cameron County to provide advanced technology to emergency management officials with the goal of improving storm monitoring, damage assessment and public efforts.The drone was officially presented during a Cameron County Commissioners Court meeting on June 16. The technology is expected to improve situational awareness and improve storm monitoring, damage assessment and emergency response efforts throughout the county.
RGV External Affairs Manager Hill Cocke said "this drone will not only improve our monitoring capabilities during storms but also help us ensure the safety and well-being of our community."
The presentation was attended by AEP Texas Telecom Manager Norberto Martinez, who played a key role in the donation effort, Cameron County EDC Director Thomas Hushen and Cameron County Assistant Deputy Dan Serna. The donation highlights ongoing collaboration between private industry, local government and community partners to leverage technology that enhances public safety and emergency preparedness.
