One way AEP Texas stays prepared for hurricane season is by partnering with local officials, emergency management partners, and community stakeholders to share ways people can prepare ahead of the storm. External Affairs manager Daniel Lucio spoke about hurricane preparedness at the Hidalgo County Hurricane Preparedness Meeting in Weslaco as well as the Texas Department of Transportation’s annual Hurricane Preparedness Meeting in Pharr.

“I discussed the importance of proactive planning, cross-agency coordination, and maintaining clear, timely communication with customers through multiple channels so communities understand what to expect, how to prepare, and how to stay safe before, during, and after severe weather events,” Lucio said.

AEP Texas also works quickly to restore service safely and efficiently after a storm with damage assessment, crew deployment strategies, and mutual assistance when needed.
