The City of Laredo was glad to have AEP Texas at their 16th annual Kite Festival on March 11, not only as an annual sponsor, but also as heroes. The festival features local vendors, live entertainment, children's activities and popular kite-flying contest that fills the sky with colorful kites.
During the festivities a young girl's kite drifted into an overhead power line. AEP Texas lineworkers quickly responded by safely removing the kite avoiding any potential safety hazards near the electrical lines.
"The girl and her family expressed their appreciation to the workers and took photos with the crew alongside Louie the Lightning Bug," said External Affairs Manager Danny Treviño. "We always have line and service employees present to clear any kites or debris that may get into the powerlines."
