Broken poles, uprooted trees, and downed power lines are just some of the damage AEP Texas crews are encountering as they continue to restore power to areas impacted by Hurricane Beryl.
At 6 p.m. Tuesday, AEP Texas had restored electric service to 63% of customers left without power after Hurricane Beryl made landfall as a Cat 1 storm.
Crews will work late into the night Tuesday to restore power to as many customers as possible. Crews will continue to refine ETR’s as the restoration effort progresses.

- Bay City area: 5 p.m. Thursday, July 11
- Palacios/Blessing area: 5 p.m. Thursday, July 11
- El Campo area: 5 p.m. Thursday, July 11
- Columbus/Eagle Lake area: 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 10
AEP Texas reminds customers to follow these important safety guidelines:
- All downed power lines should be considered energized and dangerous. Do not touch anything in contact with the line, such as trees, fences, or puddles of water. Keep children and pets inside during and after the storm. Stay at least ten feet away from any downed power line.
- If you plan to use a portable generator, always follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
