Five AEP Texas employees volunteered in Camp Wood after mid-July flooding damaged homes and neighborhoods, delivering cleanup kits door to door to help residents begin recovering. The team helped make sure recovery supplies reached families most affected by the storm by working with local community leaders.
The volunteers were Orlando Moya, Meter Electrician Supervisor; Joel Pacheco, Lead Field Meter Servicer; Julie Patterson, Field Meter Servicer; David Castillo, Customer Service Account Representative Senior; and Christina Gomez, Customer Experience Account Manager. They relied on a local volunteer, “Gigi,” who knew residents by name and where they lived, helping guide them through the community.
Instead of using an address list, the team followed Gigi to hand-deliver cleanup kits directly to households in need. The effort supported residents as they began the cleanup process and reflected the employees’ commitment to helping their community recover.
