Mentoring Alliance in Abilene received a $2,350 donation from the AEP Texas Foundation to support its annual summer camp. With 110-120 students each day, the faith-based day camp partners with Abilene Independent School District (AISD) and provides a fun and educational environment for children.
Students entering 1st-6th grade are eligible to attend the camp where they are placed in a small group of their peers for each activity. Throughout the week, students experience a variety of activities including sports, crafts, worship, academics, and even water inflatables.
“The Mentoring Alliance programs offer valuable opportunities for youth and families in Abilene,” External Affairs Manager @Luke Roberson said. “By connecting young people with positive role models, structured learning experiences, and engaging school-based activities, these programs help support academic readiness, build resilience, and encourage success for children from all backgrounds.”
