AEP Texas President & COO Judith Talavera was recently honored at the 11th annual American G.I. Forum of South Texas Community Advocates and Veterans Scholarship Banquet. Talavera was recognized along with a roster of other honorees that included Corpus Christi Mayor Paulette Guajardo and Talavera’s husband, Ric Talavera, senior vice-president of Kleberg Bank.
The evening also awarded scholarships to deserving high school students about to embark on life after graduation.
The American G.I. Forum is Hispanic civil rights and veterans organization founded by Dr. Hector P. Garcia in 1948 in Corpus Christi. Dr. Garcia started the organization to fight discrimination against Hispanic veterans seeking medical care and benefits. The organization expanded to a national organization in 1958. The group is chartered by the U.S. Congress.
