(CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – February 17, 2021) AEP Texas restored electric service to approximately 125,000 customers Wednesday and increased rotation of electricity as generation increases on the electrical grid.
AEP Texas remains focused on restoring power to customers who have been without power for the longest. There is limited flexibility on where power can be redirected, but restoration to those who have been impacted the longest is the top priority.
Additional severe weather and another freeze are expected in some parts of Texas Wednesday night. Local warming centers can be located https://tdem.texas.gov/warm/.
At 9 p.m. Wednesday, approximately 285,000 customers remained without power, down from a peak of approximately 468,000 customers on Tuesday morning. AEP Texas crews stand ready to restore power to additional customers when ERCOT determines that a sufficient amount of generation on the electric grid makes it safe to proceed.
