Over 250 individuals representing distribution, transmission, forestry, drone operations and traffic control continue working to restore electric service to approximately 385 customers, down from a peak of 1,700 late Friday evening, who were left without power after a storm with reported 120 mph winds moved through the Victoria area Friday.
On Saturday at 7 p.m., the largest groups of customer outages are as follows:
- Point Comfort – 285
- Placedo – 100
Distribution damage includes approximately 45 broken or blown over poles; 15 broken crossarms; and numerous spans of downed primary and secondary wire. Transmission damage includes one substation out of service in Victoria County and five transmission lines impacted.
Restoration efforts since the storm made impact Friday have included sectionalizing, switching and isolating; and rebuilding destroyed infrastructure.
AEP Texas expects to have at least ninety percent of remaining customers restored by 8 p.m. Saturday; and to increase that result to ninety-six percent by 10 p.m. Some customers may remain without power until Sunday until crews repair all affected infrastructure.
An AEP Texas mobile command center is parked at the Point Comfort City Hall located at 102 Jones St. Customers may visit the location to the learn the latest information about their outage, charge their mobile devices and use wireless internet.
AEP Texas crews will continue working until all customers who can receive power are restored.
