Friday Storm Leaves 500 Customers Without Power in the Victoria Area

May 2, 2026

Severe weather, wind shear and reported 120 mph winds affected the Victoria area Friday causing severe damage to our electrical infrastructure, including knocking down at least 25 utility poles and affecting some transmission facilities in the area.

On Saturday morning, the Gohlke substation located in Victoria and some transmission structures surrounding it are out of service.

Damage assessment continues today.

The destruction has left approximately 500 customers in the area without power, mostly in the communities of Point Comfort and Placedo

Crews are actively rebuilding the distribution infrastructure to restore electrical service to customers as quickly and as safely as possible.

These photos show some of the damage sustained during Friday’s storm.
