The AEP Texas Foundation continues to support educational opportunities for engineers by awarding $8,000 to the San Angelo University Mechanical Engineering Baja Club. Students in the club build a Baja vehicle from scratch and compete against other universities.
External Affairs Manager Fred Guerrero said the program is a great way to teach students how engineering works in a real-world situation.
“What makes the Baja Club so special is that it gives students the chance to see engineering come to life,” Guerrero said. “Instead of only learning concepts in a classroom, they're solving real problems, working as a team, and building something tangible from the ground up. Opportunities like this can spark a deeper passion for learning and help students understand the impact they can make as future engineers.”
The money will help cover various costs from repairs to other operational club needs.
