AEP Texas recently presented its Wildfire Mitigation Plan and strategy at the 2026 West Central Texas Emergency Preparedness Conference in Brownwood. Director of Communications Omar Lopez and Director of Wildfire Mitigation Justin Turner shared an overview of the plan with dozens of local emergency management officials.

Filed in August, the Wildfire Mitigation Plan outlines AEP Texas’ ongoing efforts to protect customers and improve reliability through vegetation management, system hardening, technology enhancements, operational adjustments, outreach, education and collaboration. If a wildfire threatens a community it serves, AEP Texas is prepared to take action to help safeguard lives, property and critical infrastructure.
