AEP Transmission operators and engineers volunteered last weekend at the Gulf Coast Humane Society in Corpus Christi to help care for the shelter’s more than 800 pets and support local pet owners who are struggling to feed their animals. The group filled the shelter’s animal food pantry, made treats for the pets and spent time playing with the animals to give them attention as they wait to be adopted.

Robert Voorheis, senior transmission real-time training specialist, said the volunteers hoped their efforts would make a meaningful difference for the shelter and the animals.

“Each of these activities was a small contribution on its own, but together they made a meaningful impact on the shelter and the animals,” Voorheis said. “It was a very fulfilling experience for all of us, and we are hopeful to continue supporting our community in similar ways in the future.”
