Bouvier was among the first to arrive at the scene. Working alongside law enforcement and fellow Good Samaritans, he helped extinguish flames, held the aircraft door open so passengers could escape and stayed by the plane even after hearing someone yell, "It's going to blow!" Five people survived that day. In recognition of his bravery, Bouvier and four others were honored by the Laredo Police Department for their livesaving actions.
