Nearly 600 West Oso ISD students in Corpus Christi attended Career Day to explore local opportunities with AEP Texas, from distribution line work and metering to technical training and drone operations. Attendees had hands-on experience with tools and safety gear, inspected a bucket truck, and watched a live drone demonstration by the Mission Intelligence team.

Students said the demonstrations clarified how equipment and drones are used in real situations and helped them consider new career paths; one senior reported changing his mind about where he wanted to work after seeing the trucks and roles up close. AEP Texas staff noted that even impacting a single student meets the event’s goal of connecting youth with local career possibilities.
