AEP Texas Station Electrician Mallory Torres was honored at the Frida Festival in San Benito for exemplifying strength and resilience as a woman thriving in a male-dominated industry. The Frida Festival, organized with the help of San Benito Service Mechanic Victor Gonzalez, honors and celebrates women for their impact in the community while promoting female empowerment. 

Gonzalez personally chose to honor Torres not only to highlight her strong work ethic but also to demonstrate how she is succeeding at a physically demanding job surrounded by men.  

“I think she's a strong and independent young woman since she’s probably the only woman working out in the field for the substation group," Gonzalez said. "That job isn't easy, especially working in the hot sun, rain, or cold weather."

Torres did not expect this incredible honor and was moved by the acknowledgment. “There are not many women in this field. I have been with the station for four years, progressing from Station Electrician C to Certified B. Earning this certification shows that hard work does not go unnoticed,” she said.
