This summer, AEP Texas is thrilled to have two engineering interns working from the home office in Corpus Christi. Joey Orta and Logan Herrera are not only following their own dreams but also carrying on their family legacies. Inspired by their fathers Jose Orta, a Senior Engineer in Transmission, and Ernest Herrera, a Distribution Design Manager, both young men have chosen to pursue careers in engineering.
Joey shares how his dad has influenced his career path, saying, “My father played a huge role in my career choice.” Jose notes, “It’s the best feeling in the world to see your kids accomplishing great things.” Logan also recalls how he made an “AEP Jr.” shirt as a kid, inspired by his father’s long career at the company.
As they dive into their 12-week internships at AEP Texas, Joey and Logan are eager to learn and make a difference. Joey is focused on analyzing distribution circuits and enhancing resilience, while Logan is working in the design department, simplifying tasks and analyzing outage data. With their fathers cheering them on from the sidelines, these young interns are ready to leave their mark at AEP Texas.
