AEP Texas crews and business partners arrive in Victoria in anticipation of Tropical Storm Beta’s landfall

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (September 21, 2020) – AEP Texas crews and contract business partners have arrived in Victoria where they will await Tropical Storm Beta’s landfall and prepare for the post-storm outage restoration. After the storm moves ashore and it is safe to do so crews will begin the restoration process.

Safety

  • Once wind gusts are below 35 miles-per-hour, AEP Texas crews can safely operate a utility bucket and begin restoration activities.
  • All power lines should be considered energized and dangerous. Do not touch anything in contact with the line, such as trees, fences or standing water. Please keep children and pets inside during and after the storm. Report downed power lines by calling (866) 223-8508.
  • All AEP Texas crews are following strict COVID-19 safety guidelines, which include wearing a mask and practicing physical and social distancing.
  • Customers should not approach crews for any reason, especially due to enhanced COVID-19 safety guidelines.
