Outage, Payment Alerts Now Available For PSO Customers

March 31, 2015

TULSA, Okla., March 31, 2015 – Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) is now offering outage and payment alerts to customers.  The roll-out of these new customer options comes after weeks of testing by employees who were encouraged to provide feedback on their experience to ensure the best program for customers.

The new systems, which are also being rolled out by other AEP companies, allows customers the option to be notified by text message or email when their home or business is affected by a power outage, or when there has been activity on their PSO account.

For outage alerts, customers will receive a notification when outages have been reported in their area and will continue to get updates as PSO crews determine the outage cause and predict when power is expected to be restored.

For payment alerts, customers will receive a notification when a payment has been received.  Additional alerts will be added in the coming months.

Sign up is easy.  By visiting www.PSOklahoma.com/account/alerts/ customers may register and log into their account, then enroll in outage and bill payment alerts and modify their specific notification preferences.

Customers may also get more information on outage and bill payment alerts by calling 1-888-216-3523.

PSO does not charge customers for these notifications.  However, message and data rates may apply.

PSO, a unit of American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP), is an electric utility company serving more than 540,000 customers in eastern and southwestern Oklahoma.  Based in Tulsa, PSO has 4,274 megawatts of generating capacity and is one of the largest distributors of wind energy in the state.  News releases and other information about PSO can be found on the World Wide Web at PSOklahoma.com.
