PSO Employees Primed Communities for Fresh Paint Days

November 8, 2019

PSO’s initial premiere employee volunteer project, Fresh Paint Days, was completed on October 9, 2019 with fifteen structures painted– improving and beautifying buildings and parks in PSO service territories across our footprint. PSO employees, 125 strong, participated alongside civic volunteers improving communities where we live, work and raise our families. PSO employee volunteerism was on display for six weeks -- and community leaders took notice.  Several community chambers of commerce posted articles and pictures on social media, highlighting our employees’ efforts while traditional media took note as well with coverage in The Clinton Daily News, The Nowata Star, The Vinita Daily Journal and Greater Tulsa Reporter.

In Chouteau and Ketchum, PSO employee volunteers, alongside other volunteers, power washed and painted their community’s senior citizen’s buildings. The town of Chelsea had three separate buildings in their downtown district beautified with fresh paint and lots of smiles. In Tulsa, dozens of employees took time to assist in painting projects in coordination with Revitalize T-Town and the Tulsa Route 66 Main Street organization. Employees painted the exterior wall of the Broken Arrow Museum in preparation for an artistic mural to come. Showing their pride in McAlester, employees painted the exterior of the former National Guard Armory, now used as a recycling center, and City Hall in Coalgate. Three of Hobart’s playgrounds and the historic Randelett Park in Anadarko were spruced up with new paint and employees aided the Clinton Beautification Committee in painting two picnic pavilions.

For an initial “Day of Service” project, the reviews are in and the endeavor was deemed a huge success. Even Jeanette Nance, Executive Director of the statewide non-profit Keep Oklahoma Beautiful, the administrating organization of Fresh Paint Days, thanked PSO for “Making ‘Fresh Paint Days’ work so well in communities across the state.”
