More than half of the customers left without power after Hurricane Nicholas made landfall early Tuesday have been restored. At noon Wednesday, approximately 6,300 customers remain without power, down from a peak number of approximately 14,250 outages.
With 90 percent of the damage assessments complete, some of the initial reports of the safety hazards and needed repairs have sometimes doubled in quantities, such as 100 trees requiring trimming to 221 trees; 47 utility poles down to 75 poles damaged; and 881 feet of secondary wire down to 2,006 feet of fallen secondary wire.
Additional tree trimmers and line crews began moving to the affected areas early Wednesday to assist with the restoration effort.
At noon, the areas experiencing the highest amounts of customer outages are as follows:
- Palacios-550
- Wadsworth-585
- Bay City and surrounding area-4,380
Estimated Times of Restoration (ETR): AEP Texas crews expect to have restored electric service to at least 95 percent of customers affected using the following projected ETRs:
